Physiotherapist assistant
About Daan
I am Daan, 23 years old and grew up in Noordwijk. I have now been living in Amstelveen for three years, but can still regularly be found in Noordwijk. I am currently in my third year of the Physiotherapy course at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam and am doing my medior internship. Previously, I studied Movement Sciences, which further deepened my interest in the human body and how it moves.
Besides my studies, I work in the summer as a kite instructor in Noordwijk and during the year as an EMS trainer in Amsterdam. My work thus ties in well with my studies, as I am involved daily with movement, load capacity and guiding people in their physical development.
For the next 20 weeks, I will be doing an internship at FRISKFYSIO. My interest in physiotherapy stems from my passion for sports and exercise. I have played many different sports and have always been interested in their technical and physical aspects. Especially the optimisation of performance and targeted training to get better appeal to me. I also find great satisfaction in the rehabilitation process and the progress someone makes. Guiding someone from complaint to recovery gives me energy.
Sport plays a big role in my life. Football has always been central over the years and is currently more important than ever. It gives me satisfaction, focus and a goal to work towards. I am also a big fan of MMA because of the mentality and versatility of the sport. I myself kickbox and have done a lot of jiu jitsu in the past. In summer, I spend a lot of time kitesurfing. The free feeling that comes with it is incomparable for me. Sport thus forms an important part of my life and identity.
Within physiotherapy, I aim not only to treat people, but also to help them feel fit and stay fit. Movement is often the key to recovery and can prevent many complaints and injuries. Being able to move freely without restrictions contributes to both physical and mental health. In the future, I would like to specialise further, preferably within a field that matches my passion for sport. I look forward to the coming period at FRISKFYSIO and hope to learn a lot and apply this knowledge directly in practice.
