Physiotherapist assistant
Profile:
I am Daan, 23 years old and grew up in Noordwijk. I have been living in Amstelveen for 3 years now but I can still be found in Noordwijk a lot. I am currently in my 3rd year of physiotherapy at the HVA and am now doing my medior internship. I have previously tried my hand at the study of movement sciences, so I am always as interested in how the body moves. Besides this, I work as a kite instructor in Noordwijk in the summer and as an EMS trainer during the year in Amsterdam. So my work fits in well with study.
I will be doing an internship at FRISKFYSIO for the next 20 weeks. My interest in physiotherapy stems from my passion for sports and exercise in general. I have tried a huge number of sports and in doing so, I have always been interested in the technical aspects of sports. And thus also how you could train this. Physiotherapy therefore seemed a fitting choice for me and I have not regretted it. Besides, I have found that I really enjoy the process in rehabilitation and the progression someone makes makes makes me very happy.
My own passions in terms of sports have varied over the years but football has actually almost always kept a very central role. Certainly now it is more important to me than ever. The most important thing about it is that it gives me satisfaction and a goal to work towards. And, of course, I find it super fun to do. Both the technical and physical aspects are always fun and give you creativity and focus. I am also a big fan of mma because of the mentality and the many aspects involved. I myself kickbox and used to do a lot of jiu-jitsu. Very different in content but just as much fun if not more fun. Finally, I kitesurf a lot in the summer. The free feeling of this is incomparable and the experiences of it are bizarre. With that, I have nice lineup of leisure activities with which I fill my life.
My goal within physiotherapy is to make people feel and be fit in addition to treating people. Movement is often the best solution to complaints and prevents many more injuries than we think. Being able to move freely without worries ensures good overall health and mental peace. I would also like to specialise in different subjects. And preferably in a field where my interests already lie. I am curious to see how the coming period will go and hopefully learn a lot within my internship. And hopefully be able to apply this well to people.
