Pelvic physiotherapy

Pelvic physiotherapy at FRISKFYSIO Amstelveen

Problems relating to your pelvis or pelvic floor can affect your mobility, urination, bowel movements and your daily life. These problems affect both men and women. At FRISKFYSIO Amstelveen, we discuss your symptoms and assess whether physiotherapy is appropriate.

What conditions can pelvic physiotherapy help with?

Examples include involuntary urine leakage, difficulty relaxing the pelvic floor and pain in the pelvic region. Symptoms may also arise during or after pregnancy. Not every symptom in the lower abdomen, groin or lower back originates from the pelvic floor. That is why we first assess your situation and discuss whether an examination by your GP is necessary.

The pelvic floor muscles may be too weak, but they may also be too tense. Simply tensing them further is therefore not the right approach for everyone. The treatment is tailored to your needs: learning to sense, relax, coordinate or train in a targeted way.

How FRISKFYSIO Amstelveen can help you

At your first appointment, we will discuss your symptoms, medical history and the activities you would like to improve. You decide what you would like to discuss. Before carrying out any examinations, we will explain what we are going to do and ask for your consent.

Based on the initial assessment and examination, we will draw up a treatment plan together, setting achievable goals. The support may include awareness and relaxation exercises, pelvic floor exercises, and advice on physical activity, physical strain or toilet habits. You will be given guidance on which exercises are suitable for your situation.

Where appropriate, we’ll support your home exercises with the FRISK App. During follow-up appointments, we will discuss how things are going and adjust the treatment as necessary. The number of sessions and the outcome vary from person to person. We cannot guarantee a full recovery or the prevention of recurring symptoms.

Good to know: FRISKFYSIO Amstelveen does not carry out internal examinations on clients. If further investigation is required, we will discuss with you what the appropriate next step is.
